Regular Season Round 23: Maccabi H/H - Galil Elion 98-81

Rather expected game when 10th ranked Galil Elion (10-13) lost to eighth ranked Hasharon (13-10) in Hod Hasharon 81-98. Hasharon outrebounded Galil Elion 38-26 including 16 on the offensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. 25 personal fouls committed by Galil Elion helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American guard Vernon Teel (193-87, college: Loyola Mary) who had a triple-double by scoring 19 points, 11 rebounds and 14 assists. Point guard Oded Shaashoua (186-82) chipped in 25 points and 4 assists. Hasharon's coach Hanan Hershkovich used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Cinmeon Bowers (201-93, college: Auburn) produced 25 points and 9 rebounds and point guard Rom Geffen (190-94) added 17 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Hasharon have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Ironi K-A. Galil Elion at the other side keeps the tenth position with 13 games lost. Hasharon's next round opponent will be higher ranked Ironi Nes-Ziona (#5) in Nes Ziyona and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Galil Elion will play at home against Hap.Haifa (#12) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
