Regular Season Round 26: Macae - Flamengo 80-82

Thirteenth-ranked Macae (5-19) gave a tough game to third ranked Flamengo (17-6) on Tuesday. The visitors from Rio de Janeiro managed to secure only two-point victory 82-80. However their fans expected much easier game. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Macae. Flamengo made 19-of-24 free shots (79.2 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international Marquinhos Vieira (207-84) who scored 23 points and 5 rebounds. The former international Marcelo Machado (201-75, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 13 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. American point guard Kendall Anthony (173-93, college: Richmond) produced 22 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists and Erick Camilo (203-92) added 13 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader. Loser Macae dropped to the bottom place with 19 games lost. They share the position with L.Sorocaba. Flamengo will meet SKY/Basquete (#11) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Macae will play against SKY/Basquete (#11) in Aldeota and hope to secure a win.
