Regular Season Round 24: Sagunto - Paterna 69-71

A very interesting game took place in Gilet. It ended with only two-point home defeat of second-best Sagunto (7-5) to first ranked Paterna (9-4) 71-69 on Wednesday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Sagunto. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Sagunto won third quarter 14-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The winners were led by guard Victor Arnau (184-91) who scored that evening 14 points and 6 rebounds and forward Jacobo Hofmann (198-92) supported him with 11 points and 6 rebounds. Even 14 points and 5 rebounds by Dutch forward Jordan Kaspers (197-91) did not help to save the game for Sagunto. German-Polish power forward Alexander Machowski (205-91) added 9 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Paterna have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain first position in Group E Descen with 9-4 record. Sagunto at the other side dropped to the third place with five games lost. Paterna's next round opponent will be league's second-placed L Alfas in Alfas Del Pi and it will be for sure the game of the week. Sagunto will play on the road against Benidorm and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
