Korisliiga top team - Helsinki Seagulls (24-9) added another victory to their record on Wednesday. This time they beat fifth ranked Lapuan Korikobrat (15-18) 98-92. The guests trailed by 3 points after three quarters before their 32-23 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Helsinki Seagulls made 29-of-34 free shots (85.3 percent) during the game. Helsinki Seagulls outrebounded Lapuan Korikobrat 35-24 including 23 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international Carl Lindbom (206-91) who scored 39 points (!!!). American swingman Raymond Cowels-III (193-90, college: Santa Clara) chipped in 15 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!). At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Damon Williams (201-73, college: Colorado St.-Pueblo, agency: Two Points) who recorded 12 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists and his fellow American import forward Dom Morris (201-90, college: Boston U.) added 20 points respectively. Four Helsinki Seagulls and five Lapuan Korikobrat players scored in double figures. Despite that victory Helsinki Seagulls went down to second position due to points difference. Lapuan Korikobrat lost fifth consecutive game. Loser Lapuan Korikobrat keeps the fifth place with 18 games lost. They share the position with BC Nokia. Helsinki Seagulls will meet Joensuun Kataja (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Lapuan Korikobrat will play against KTP-Basket in Kotka and hope to secure a win.
