Regular Season Round 16: Champville - Byblos 104-83

The most important game in the last round took place in Dik El Mehdi between third ranked Byblos (12-5) and sixth ranked Champville (8-9) on Thursday night. Byblos were crushed by Champville on the road 83-104. The game without a history. Champville led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Champville outrebounded Byblos 46-34 including a 39-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Darian Townes (208-84) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 26 points and 12 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). The other American import Markeith Cummings (198-88, college: Kennesaw St.) contributed with 27 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Champville's coach Ghassan Sarkis felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The former international Jasmon Youngblood (195-84, college: Kent St.) replied with 28 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and American guard Clay Tucker (196-80, college: Wisc.-Milwaukee) added 23 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Byblos. Five Champville and four Byblos players scored in double figures. Champville have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain sixth position with 8-9 record. Byblos lost third consecutive game. They keep the third place with five games lost. Champville are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Hoops Club (#10) in Beirut in the next round. Byblos will play at home against Louaize (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
