Regular Season Round 39: Ferrocarril - Quilmes MP 76-69

Date: March 17, 2017
Not a big story in a game in Buenos Aires where 7th ranked Quilmes MP (18-21) was defeated by second ranked Ferrocarril (26-14) 76-69 on Friday. The hosts trailed by 11 points after first quarter, but they rallied back winning two of next three quarters and won the game by 7 points. It was a great evening for international point guard Franco Balbi (185-89) who led his team to a victory scoring 16 points and 8 assists. Center Jose-Ignacio Alessio (203-87) helped adding 20 points. Ferrocarril's coach Alvaro Castineira used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was international power forward Ivan Basualdo (202-90) with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) and international guard Luca Vildoza (190-95) scored 18 points and 5 rebounds. Ferrocarril maintains second place with 26-14 record having just two points less than leader San Lorenzo. Loser Quilmes MP keeps the seventh position with 21 games lost. Ferrocarril will face Regatas Corrientes (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Quilmes MP will play against Argentino (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
