But Hawks were not able to use a home court advantage and lost to the opponent from Perth 94-87 on Friday night. Stirling S. forced 20 Hawks turnovers. Strangely Hawks outrebounded Stirling S. 41-28 including 26 on the defensive glass. Hawks were plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for the former international forward Rhys Vague (204-96) who led his team to a victory with 23 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Corban Wroe (185-92, college: Hartford) contributed with 20 points for the winners. The former international forward Ben Purser (201-90, college: Augusta) answered with 23 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists and guard Ryan Smith (192-92) added 19 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Hawks. Four Hawks players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Stirling S. will face Flames (#11) in Rockingham in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Hawks will play on the road against Suns in Kalamunda and look forward to get finally their first victory.
