Regular Season Round 24: Al-Qazeres - Gran Canaria 68-66

Fourteenth-ranked Gran Canaria (4-20) gave a tough game to tenth ranked Al-Qazeres (10-14) in Caceres. Al-Qazeres managed to secure only two-point victory 68-66. However their fans expected much easier game. It looked good early as Gran Canaria took a 1-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Al-Qazeres had a 17-12 second period charge getting the lead and Gran Canaria was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 66-68. It was a good game for American power forward Julie Forster (185-91, college: Albany) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists. American-Italian swingman Pamela Rosanio (178-86, college: Massachusetts) contributed with 17 points and 4 assists for the winners. Four Al-Qazeres players scored in double figures. American Amber Holt (183-85, college: Middle Tenn.St.) replied with 19 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and Czech forward Michaela Stejskalova (186-87) added 15 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Gran Canaria. Al-Qazeres moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Mann Filter. Gran Canaria lost third consecutive game. They stay dead last with 20 lost games. Al-Qazeres' next round opponent will be Zamarat (#12) in Zamora. Gran Canaria will play at home against Araski and hope to win that game.
