Regular Season Round 22: Batumi - Mgzavrebi 81-78

Important game to mention about took place in Batumi. Seventh ranked Batumi (8-14) saved a 3-point derby victory at home edging 8th ranked Mgzavrebi (6-16) 81-78 on Friday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Mgzavrebi. Mgzavrebi was ahead by 3 points after three quarters before a 23-17 charge of Batumi, which allowed them to win the game. Ukrainian point guard Illya Shemosiuk (188-85) notched 26 points to lead the effort and international Kakhaber Jintcharadze (195-93) supported him with 21 points and 7 rebounds. Even 29 points and 8 rebounds (made all of his nine free throws !!!) by American point guard Kaheem Ransom (185, college: Sam Houston St.) did not help to save the game for Mgzavrebi. His fellow American import point guard Corey Allen (185-92, college: S.Florida) added 15 points and 5 rebounds for lost side. Batumi moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Cactus Tbilisi. Mgzavrebi at the other side stay at the bottom position with 16 games lost. Batumi will play against league's leader Dinamo Tbilisi on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Mgzavrebi's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tbilisi Cactus Tbilisi.
