Regular Season Round 22: Roche - Roannais 63-49

Very expected game in La Roche where 12th ranked Roannais (6-16) was defeated by second ranked Roche (19-3) 63-49 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Roche. Roannais was better in third quarter 14-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Roannais' 24. Roche forced 25 Roannais turnovers and outrebounded them 36-21 including 24 on the defensive glass. DR Congolese center Bernadette Ngoyisa (195-82) had a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and guard Johana Tayeau (173-89) chipped in 9 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals during the contest. Roche's coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side guard Maryne Reolid (173-87) responded with 11 points and 6 rebounds and forward Amandine Toi (179-98) scored 16 points. Roche have a solid four-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Avenir. Roannais lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the eleventh place with 16 games lost. Roche will face bottom-ranked CFBB (#14) in Paris in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Roannais will play at home against Montbrison and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
