Regular Season Round 24: Bembibre - Girona 54-91

Date: March 18, 2017
Very predictable result when second ranked Argon Uni Girona (20-3) smashed on the road 11th ranked Socinsa Bembibre (9-15) 91-54 on Saturday. The game without a history. Argon Uni Girona led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Argon Uni Girona outrebounded Socinsa Bembibre 49-15 including a 36-10 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Argon Uni Girona especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.9 percentage. Worth to mention a great performance of Nigerian-American Ifunanya Ibekwe (187-89, college: Arizona) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points and 16 rebounds and Greek forward Artemis Spanou (188-93, college: Robert Morris) who added 19 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Four Argon Uni Girona players scored in double figures. Argon Uni Girona's coach Eric Suris felt very confident using 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was American point guard Brianna Banks (175-93, college: Penn St.) with 15 points and her fellow American import forward Ariel Edwards (190-92, college: Penn St.) scored 13 points. Argon Uni Girona maintains second position with 20-3 record having just two points less than leader Avenida. Socinsa Bembibre lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh place with 15 games lost. Argon Uni Girona will face league's leader Perfumerias Avenida in Salamanca in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Socinsa Bembibre will play at home against the league's leader Perfumerias Avenida (#1) and hope to win that game.
