Regular Season Round 24: Quintanar - Estudiantes B 89-69

Rather predictable result when tenth ranked Quintanar (11-12) outscored at home 13th ranked Estudiantes B (5-19) 89-69 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 14-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 89-69. Quintanar dominated on the defensive end, holding Estudiantes B to just 7 points in second quarter. They shot 64.0 percent from the field. Quintanar shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 61.9 percentage. The best player for the winners was American forward Martin Smith (196, college: Lipscomb) who scored 27 points. The other American import center Emmanuel Okoroba (203-92, college: Hampton) chipped in 19 points. At the other side the best for losing team was swingman Alex Tamayo (194-0) who recorded 15 points and point guard Juan Llorente (180-93) added 13 points respectively. Estudiantes B's coach Javier Zamora let to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Quintanar maintains tenth position in Group B with 11-12 record. Estudiantes B lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the thirteenth place with 19 games lost. Quintanar will face Lanzarote (#12) in Arrecife in the next round. Estudiantes B's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Madrid Torrelodones.
