Regular Season Round 24: Mollet - Sitges 73-76

A very close game took place in Mollet between Sitges and Mollet. Thirteenth ranked Sitges (4-16) got a very close victory on the road over top-ranked Mollet (17-4). Sitges managed to escape with a 3-point win 76-73 on Saturday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the home team. It ended at the same time the 14-game winning streak of Mollet. The guests trailed by 8 points at the halftime before their 47-36 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Worth to mention a great performance of swingman Gerard Gonzalvez (191-93) who helped to win the game recording 22 points and power forward Roger Perez (203-96) who added 9 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was center Jose-Manuel Coego (205-78) with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds and point guard Roger Vilanova (181-87) scored 20 points and 4 steals. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Newly promoted Sitges maintains thirteenth position in Group C-B with 4-16 record. Loser Mollet still keeps top place with four games lost. Sitges will meet at home higher ranked Sant Adria (#7) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Mollet will play against Vive El Masnou (#9) in Barcelona and hope to secure a win.
