Regular Season Round 23: Aros Leon - Barcelona 76-47

Leader Aros Leon delivered the twentieth victory. This time they crushed 7th ranked Barcelona (11-12) 76-47. It looked good early as Barcelona took a 2-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Aros Leon had a 16-13 second period charge getting the lead and Barcelona was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 47-76. Aros Leon dominated on the defensive end, holding Barcelona to just 5 points in third quarter. Barcelona was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Power forward Itsaso Conde (185-96) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 11 rebounds. Guard Patricia Benet (170-88) contributed with 10 points for the winners. Five Aros Leon players scored in double figures. Aros Leon's coach felt very confident using entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Miriam Ferreri (-93) answered with 14 points and 7 rebounds and forward Ana Alonso (187-90) added 8 points in the effort for Barcelona. Aros Leon maintains first place in Group A with 20-3 record. Barcelona lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with 12 games lost. Aros Leon will play against Ponce Valladolid (#14) on the road in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Barcelona's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Barcelona Segle XXI.
