But Slammers were not able to use a home court advantage and lost to the opponent from Bullcreek 79-68 on Saturday night. American forward Sydnee Fipps (178, college: Cal-Davis) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds for the winners and her fellow American import forward Ali Schwagmeyer (180-90, college: Quincy) chipped in 21 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Lightning's coach used an eleven-player rotation saving starting five for next games. At the losing side American forward Brittany Hodges (185-93, college: Furman) responded with a double-double by scoring 32 points and 13 rebounds and forward Courtney Bayliss (183-93, college: Our Lady Lake) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 13 rebounds. Lightning will face Magic (#4) in Mandurah in the next round. Slammers will play at home against Redbacks (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
