An interesting game for Tobol (14-4) which played road game in Alma-Ata against 3rd placed Almat.Legion (7-11). First ranked Tobol managed to get a 9-point victory 80-71. Tobol had a 23-12 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. Forward Anton Bykov (200-89) fired a double-double by scoring 16 points and 19 rebounds for the winners. Forward Farid Karimullin (193-87) chipped in 21 points and 6 rebounds. Tobol's coach Aleksandr Derbush allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Swingman Ruslan Aitkali (195-97) produced 23 points and 7 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) and international guard Yuriy Kozhanov (190-90) added 14 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Tobol maintains first place with 14-4 record. Almat.Legion at the other side keeps the third position with 11 games lost. Tobol's next round opponent will be Kazygurt (#4) in Shymkent. Almat.Legion will play again on the road against the league's leader Tobol in Kostanay and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
