Regular Season Round 46: Toshiba BT - SeaHorses 78-87

There was a minor upset in Kanagawa where top-ranked Toshiba Thunders (37-8) were defeated by first ranked Aishin Sea Horses (35-10) 87-78 on Saturday. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Aishin Sea Horses looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. American power forward Gavin Edwards (206-88, college: Connecticut) scored 21 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists to lead the charge for the winners and the former international center JR Sakuragi (206-76, college: UCLA) chipped in 10 points, 7 rebounds and 12 assists during the contest. At the losing side American forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) responded with 27 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international swingman Naoto Tsuji (185-89) scored 25 points. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Aishin Sea Horses have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 35-10 record which they share with defeated Toshiba Thunders. Loser Toshiba Thunders still keep top place with eight games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
