Date: March 18, 2017
The game between Top Four teams took place in Vitoria-Gasteiz. 4th ranked host Araski (13-11) was smashed by first ranked Perfumerias Avenida (22-1) 63-42. The game without a history. Perfumerias Avenida led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Araski to just 7 points in first quarter. Perfumerias Avenida dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Araski's 20. They outrebounded Araski 40-23 including a 30-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. The winners were led by American swingman Alana Beard (185-82, college: Duke) who scored that evening 15 points and 9 rebounds and Nigerian-American forward Adaora Elonu (185-90, college: Texas A&M) supported her with 16 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Even 11 points and 6 rebounds by American Margaret Roundtree (183-88, college: Gardner-Webb) did not help to save the game for Araski. Forward Ane Aldalur (178-89) added 15 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Perfumerias Avenida have an impressive 17-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 22-1 record. Newly promoted Araski dropped to the fifth place with 11 games lost. They share the position with Cadi La Seu. Perfumerias Avenida will play against league's second-placed Argon Uni Girona at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Araski will play against Gran Canaria in Las Palmas and hopes to get back on the winning track.
