Very expected game in Vilagarcia Arousa where 8th ranked Real Celta Vigo (10-13) was defeated by third ranked Cortegada (14-6) 72-68 on Saturday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The best player for the winners was Senegalese center Amy Syll (196-93) who had a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds. Swingman Salome Garcia (175-92) chipped in 16 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Cortegada players scored in double figures. American-Nigerian forward Cecilia Okoye (185-91, college: McNeese St.) produced a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds and guard Anne Senosiain (162-97) added 11 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for the guests. Cortegada maintains third place in Group A with 14-6 record having nine points less than leader Aros Leon. Loser Real Celta Vigo keeps the eighth position with 13 games lost. Cortegada will face Joventut LC (#4) in Barcelona in the next round. Real Celta Vigo will play at home against GDKO Bizkaia (#5) and hope to win that game.
