Regular Season Round 3: SW Slammers - Lakeside L. 82-84

No shocking result in a game when Lightning (1-1) edged Slammers (0-1) in Bunbury 84-82 on Saturday. Lightning dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Slammers' 28. They outrebounded Slammers 38-23 including a 28-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for American guard Devon Atkinson (185, college: Morehead St.) who led his team to a victory with 18 points and 8 assists. His fellow American import forward James Padgett (203-91, college: Maryland) contributed with 21 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Four Lightning players scored in double figures. American guard Tre Nichols (180-89, college: Boise St., agency: SDJ Sports) answered with 34 points (!!!) and naturalized American power forward Clive Weeden (206-87, college: Dartmouth) added 7 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Slammers. Lightning will face Magic (#9) in Mandurah in the next round. Slammers will play at home against Redbacks and look forward to get finally their first victory.
