Regular Season Round 46: Hitachi SR - Toyota Alvark 63-95
Date: March 18, 2017
Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Tokyo: Toyota Alvark (#2) and Hitachi Sunrockers (#3). Hitachi Sunrockers were smashed at home by 32 points 63-95 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Hitachi Sunrockers. Toyota Alvark players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Diante Garrett (196-88, college: Iowa St.) who helped to win the game recording 25 points and 5 assists. Swingman Zack Baranski (193-92) contributed with 13 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Five Toyota Alvark players scored in double figures. Canadian center Robert Sacre (213-89, college: Gonzaga) replied with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds and international forward Ira Brown (193-82, college: Gonzaga) added 13 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Hitachi Sunrockers. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Toyota Alvark have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 34-10 record having four points less than leader Tochigi Brex which they share with defeated Hitachi Sunrockers. Hitachi Sunrockers at the other side dropped to the second place with 22 games lost. Toyota Alvark will have a break next round. Hitachi Sunrockers' supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face again at home their local rival from Tokyo Toyota Alvark.
