Regular Season Round 29: Gries/Oberhoffen - Chartres 87-97

Rather predictable result when tenth ranked UB Chartres (15-14) won against 12th ranked Gries/Oberhoffen (13-16) in Bischwiller 97-87 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 4 points at the halftime before their 51-37 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. UB Chartres outrebounded Gries/Oberhoffen 38-27 including 27 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Swingman Kevin Bichard (195-86) orchestrated the victory by scoring 16 points and 7 rebounds. Power forward Harry Disy (200-84, college: Louisiana Tech) contributed with 15 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. UB Chartres' coach Sebastien Lambert used a ten-player rotation saving starting five for next games. Lithuanian point guard Ovidijus Varanauskas (187-91) answered with 20 points and 7 assists and Ahmed Doumbia (195-89) added 16 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Gries/Oberhoffen. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. UB Chartres moved-up to eighth place, which they share with ALS Basket and Challans. Newly promoted Gries/Oberhoffen keeps the twelfth position with 16 games lost. UB Chartres will face higher ranked GET Vosges (#5) in Golbey in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Gries/Oberhoffen will play on the road against SAP Vaucluse (#13) in Sorgues and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
