There was a small surprise when ninth ranked Latvijas Universitate (4-7) beat 9th ranked Tartu U. (3-6) in Riga 83-73 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Latvijas Universitate. Tartu U. managed to win fourth quarter 27-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Latvijas Universitate forced 25 Tartu U. turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Guard Liene Stalidzane (175-94) nailed 22 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side and guard Anda Kuzmina (175-97) accounted for 12 points and 6 assists. Estonian Eleriin Vaino (177-99) came up with 17 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and Estonian forward Nele Laurimaa (178-93) added 13 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Tartu U. in the defeat. Five Latvijas Universitate and four Tartu U. players scored in double figures. Latvijas Universitate moved-up to eighth place. Loser Tartu U. keeps the ninth position with six games lost.
