Very expected game when 14th ranked Vitre (12-17) lost at home to sixth ranked Lourdes-Tarbes (17-12) 78-74 on Saturday. Vitre was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Lourdes-Tarbes looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The former international center Ludovic Vaty (206-88, college: Moraine Valley CC) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds. The former international point guard Xane d'Almeida (181-83) contributed with 12 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners. Lourdes-Tarbes' coach Alex Casimiri used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Guard Antoine Belkessa (186-88) answered with 11 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists and Desmond Quincy-Jones (201-85, college: Pace) added 15 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Vitre. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Lourdes-Tarbes moved-up to fifth place, which they share with GET Vosges. Loser Vitre keeps the fourteenth position with 17 games lost. Lourdes-Tarbes will face Orchesien BC (#7) in Orchies in the next round. Vitre will play on the road against Angers BC (#17) and hope to win that game.
