No shocking result in a game when second ranked Valmiera (18-9) defeated at home 6th ranked Barons Riga (12-12) 80-62. It looked good early as Barons Riga took a 4-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Valmiera had a 21-9 second period charge getting the lead and Barons Riga was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 62-80. Valmiera made 16-of-21 charity shots (76.2 percent) during the game. American point guard Damier Pitts (177-89, college: Marshall) notched 24 points, 6 assists and 5 steals to lead the effort and forward Ervins Jonats (203-91) supported him with 13 points and 9 rebounds. Pitts is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Valmiera players scored in double figures. Even 25 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists by American guard Tyler Larson (190-91, college: S.Dakota) did not help to save the game for Barons Riga.
