There was a minor upset in Saporro where 4th placed Niigata Albirex (20-25) was defeated by fourth ranked Hokkaido L. (17-28) 93-89 on Sunday. Hokkaido L. made 23-of-28 free shots (82.1 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was international forward Takanobu Nishikawa (195-92) who scored 31 points. American center Daniel Miller (211-91, college: Georgia Tech) chipped in 13 points and 9 rebounds. Five Hokkaido L. players scored in double figures. American Davante Gardner (203-91, college: Marquette) produced a double-double by scoring 32 points and 10 rebounds and the other American import power forward Clint Chapman (208-89, college: Texas) added 25 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the guests. Hokkaido L. maintains fourth place with 17-28 record which they share with defeated Niigata Albirex. Loser Niigata Albirex keeps the fourth position with 25 games lost. Hokkaido L. will face higher ranked Chiba Jets (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Niigata Albirex will play against the league's leader Toshiba Thunders and hope to win that game.
