Regular Season Round 47: Shiga L-Stars - Tochigi Brex 80-82

Date: March 19, 2017
Sixth-ranked Shiga L-Stars (10-35) made lots of trouble for first ranked Tochigi Brex (36-9) on Sunday. The visitors from Tochigi managed to secure only two-point victory 82-80. However their fans expected much easier game. Tochigi Brex dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Shiga L-Stars' 34. 25 personal fouls committed by Shiga L-Stars helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American power forward Ryan Rossiter (204-89, college: Siena) who had a double-double by scoring 30 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. His fellow American import forward Jeffrey Gibbs (188-80, college: Otterbein) chipped in 9 points and 6 rebounds. Tochigi Brex's coach Thomas Wisman used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Guard Narito Namizato (172-89) produced 15 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists and American Craig Brackins (208-87, college: Iowa St.) added 18 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Five Shiga L-Stars players scored in double figures. Tochigi Brex have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain first place with 36-9 record. Shiga L-Stars lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with 35 games lost. Tochigi Brex are looking forward to face Sendai 89ers (#6) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Shiga L-Stars will play against the league's second-placed Diamond Dolphins in Nagoya and are hoping to prove to their supporters that they can break losing series.
