Regular Season Round 23: PGE Turow - Asseco 100-79

Date: March 19, 2017
There was no surprise in Zgorzelec where 13th ranked Asseco (9-15) was crushed by seventh ranked PGE Turow (14-11) 100-79 on Sunday. PGE Turow made 22-of-26 free shots (84.6 percent) during the game. Asseco was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was Serbian center Uros Nikolic (207-87, agency: BeoExcell) who scored 21 points and 9 rebounds. Ukrainian-American forward Denis Ikovlev (200-86, college: Nevada) chipped in 15 points and 5 assists. The former international guard Marcel Ponitka (192-97) produced 10 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and the former international forward Piotr Szczotka (196-81, agency: Alti Sport) added 12 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the guests. Five PGE Turow and four Asseco players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. PGE Turow moved-up to sixth place. Asseco lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the thirteenth position with 15 games lost. PGE Turow will face TBV Start (#15) in Lublin in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Asseco will play at home against the league's second-placed Anwil and hope to win that game.
