Regular Season Round 22: Milano - Carugate 64-49

There was no surprise when 11th ranked Carugate (6-16) was defeated on the road by third ranked Milano (16-6) 64-49 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Milano. Carugate was better in third quarter 16-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Milano forced 20 Carugate turnovers and outrebounded them 40-27 including 27 on the defensive glass. Forward Giulia Maffenini (175-92, agency: Two Points) fired a double-double by scoring 15 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Power forward Stefania Guarneri (182-95) chipped in a double-double by scoring 11 points and 12 rebounds. Five Milano players scored in double figures. Power forward Cecilia Albano (180-96) produced 13 points and the former international forward Emily Correal (190-90, college: William & Mary, agency: Interperformances) added 8 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Carugate's coach Paolo Re tested eleven players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Milano have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 16-6 record having four points less than leader Vicenza. Loser Carugate keeps the eleventh place with 16 games lost. Milano will face Orvieto (#4) on the road in the next round. Carugate will play against Albino (#8) and hope to win that game.
