Second Stage Round 9: Koping - Alvik Basket 88-66

Very expected game when 8th ranked Alvik Basket (2-9) was rolled over on the road by third ranked Koping (6-6) 88-66. The game without a history. Koping led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Alvik Basket's 34. They outrebounded Alvik Basket 41-30 including 30 on the defensive glass. Koping players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists comparing to just 5 passes made by Alvik Basket's players. Center Mikael Axelsson (207-94) nailed a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side and American guard Ronnie Boggs (192-91, college: Jacksonville St., agency: Interperformances) accounted for 20 points and 5 rebounds. Koping had such big advantage that coach Panagiotis Nikolaidis felt comfortable to give the chance to play for 10 players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Forward Richard Hartmann (203-89) came up with 17 points and 9 rebounds and forward Jacob Andersson (196-89, college: CS San Marcos) added 9 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Alvik Basket in the defeat. Koping maintains third place in Superettan with 6-6 record having twelve points less than leader IK Eos. Alvik Basket at the other side keeps the eighth position with nine games lost. Koping's next round opponent will be league's leader Djurgarden at home and it will be for sure the game of the week. Alvik Basket will play against Wetterbygden (#5) and hope to win that game.
