Regular Season Round 47: Hitachi SR - Toyota Alvark 64-66

Third-ranked Hitachi Sunrockers (22-23) made lots of trouble for second ranked Toyota Alvark (35-10) in Tokyo on Sunday. The visitors managed to secure only two-point victory 66-64. However their fans expected easier game. It was a great evening for the former international forward Daiki Tanaka (191-91) who led his team to a victory scoring 16 points. International power forward Joji Takeuchi (207-85) helped adding 10 points and 9 rebounds. Canadian center Robert Sacre (213-89, college: Gonzaga) responded with 21 points and 8 rebounds and the former international guard Kenta Hirose (193-85) scored 14 points and 5 rebounds. Hitachi Sunrockers' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Toyota Alvark have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with SeaHorses. Hitachi Sunrockers at the other side dropped to the second place with 23 games lost. They share the position with Nagoya DD and Osaka Evessa. Toyota Alvark will meet at home Akita Happinets (#5) in the next round. Hitachi Sunrockers will play against the league's second-placed Sanen Neophoenix in Hamamatsu and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
