Regular Season Round 21: Torino - Battipaglia 71-60

Date: March 19, 2017
Rather expected game when 11th ranked Battipaglia (4-17) was defeated on the road by ninth ranked Torino (6-15) 71-60 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 8 points after first quarter, but they stormed back and won the game by 11 points. Torino forced 32 Battipaglia turnovers and had a 19-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was Croatian center Ivana Tikvic (189-94) who had a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds. American forward Ashley Bruner (183-91, college: S.Carolina, agency: Two Points) chipped in 17 points and 9 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American swingman Brooque Williams (175-89, college: California, PA, agency: Two Points) who recorded 15 points and 6 rebounds and Greek forward Katerina Sotiriou (186-84) added 13 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Battipaglia's coach Massimo Riga rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Torino moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Vigarano. Loser Battipaglia keeps the eleventh position with 17 games lost. Torino is looking forward to face higher ranked Napoli (#6) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Battipaglia will play against Ragusa (#5) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
