Very important is a home loss of third ranked Marghera (15-5) against fifth ranked Ferrara (14-6) on Sunday night. Host Marghera was defeated by Ferrara in a tough game in Venezia 75-80. It ended at the same time the nine-game winning streak of Marghera. Ferrara made 18-of-19 free shots (94.7 percent) during the game. Forward Nene Diene (180-92) scored 15 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists (made all of her seven free throws) to lead the charge for the winners and point guard Rosa Cupido (173-92) chipped in 22 points and 5 steals during the contest. Four Ferrara players scored in double figures. At the losing side Argentinian swingman Macarena Rosset (178-91, agency: Players Group) responded with 22 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Federica Iannucci (175-93) scored 17 points and 4 assists. Marghera's coach Francesco Iurlaro rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Ferrara moved-up to fourth place. Loser Marghera keeps the third position with five games lost. Ferrara will meet at home Civitanova (#6) in the next round. Marghera will play against Palermo and hope to secure a win.
