Regular Season Round 37: Kauhajoki - Kouvot 91-96

An interesting game was played in Kauhajoki where Kouvot (#7) won against host Kauhajoen Karhu (#4) 96-91 on Wednesday evening. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 7-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 96-91. Strangely Kauhajoen Karhu outrebounded Kouvot 35-21 including 24 on the defensive glass. The game was also dominated by American players. Guard Raheem Appleby (190-93, college: Louisiana Tech) stepped up and scored 22 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners and guard James Sinclair (190-93, college: W.Carolina) chipped in 23 points. At the losing side guard Tate Unruh (193-90, college: N.Colorado, agency: Inception Sports) responded with 23 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and forward Devonne Giles (203-83, college: Texas Tech) scored 19 points and 9 rebounds. Five Kouvot and four Kauhajoen Karhu players scored in double figures. Defending champion (15-19) moved-up to fifth place, which they share with BC Nokia and Lapua. Kauhajoen Karhu lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth position with 14 games lost. Kouvot will meet at home bottom-ranked UU-Korihait (#10) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Kauhajoen Karhu will play against Joensuun Kataja (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
