Regular Season Round 35: Norrkoping - Umea 82-60

There was no surprise when 8th ranked Umea (5-26) was crushed on the road by second ranked Norrkoping Dolphins (23-8) 82-60. It looked good early as Umea took a 5-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Norrkoping Dolphins had a 21-15 second period charge getting the lead and Umea was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 60-82. Norrkoping Dolphins forced 21 Umea turnovers. It was an exceptional evening for Bosnian forward Dejan Jeftic (197-89, agency: Octagon Europe) who led the winners and scored 22 points and 6 rebounds. American point guard Johnell Smith (180-80, college: New Orleans) accounted for 12 points and 4 assists for the winning side. Norrkoping Dolphins' coach Adnan Chuk felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Johan Ronstrom (204-89) came up with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 13 rebounds and American forward George Valentine (203-88, college: Winthrop, agency: Mansfield and Associates) added 9 points and 12 rebounds respectively for Umea in the defeat. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Norrkoping Dolphins. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with BC Lulea. Umea at the other side keeps the eighth place with 26 games lost. Norrkoping Dolphins' next round opponent will be KFUM Jamtland (#6) at home which should be theoretically another easy game. Umea will play against Sodertalje Kings and hope to win that game.
