Regular Season Round 28: Vitoria - Flamengo 87-93

Date: March 24, 2017
NBB top team - Flamengo (19-6) added another victory to their record on Friday. This time they beat seventh ranked Universo/Vitoria (15-11) in Salvador 93-87. Flamengo made 25-of-30 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. The winners were led by Dominican-American guard Ronald Ramon (183-86, college: Pittsburgh) who scored that evening 29 points (made all of his eight free throws) and the former international forward Olivinha Rodriguez (203-83) supported him with 22 points and 10 rebounds. Flamengo's coach Jose Neto used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 16 points and 8 rebounds by American guard Keyron Sheard (188-86, college: Chattanooga, agency: Haylett Sports) did not help to save the game for Universo/Vitoria. His fellow American import point guard Kenny Dawkins (175-87, college: Lamar) added 20 points and 5 steals for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Flamengo have a solid four-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 19-6 record. Loser Universo/Vitoria dropped to the sixth place with 11 games lost. They share the position with Pinheiros. Flamengo will meet at home Brasilia (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Universo/Vitoria will play against Liga Sorocaba in Sorocabana and hope to secure a win.
