Regular Season Round 25: Girona - Cadi La Seu 72-51

There was no surprise when 6th ranked Cadi La Seu (13-12) was crushed on the road by second ranked Argon Uni Girona (21-4) 72-51 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 72-51. Argon Uni Girona forced 19 Cadi La Seu turnovers and outrebounded them 40-25 including 29 on the defensive glass. American forward Haley Peters (190-92, college: Duke, agency: ProDep Management) fired 18 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Lithuanian center Kristina Alminaite (205-90) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds. Argon Uni Girona's coach Eric Suris felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Mali power forward Meiya Tirera (186-86, agency: ProDep Management) produced 22 points and 7 rebounds and guard Andrea Vilaro (182-93, college: Florida) added 5 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. Argon Uni Girona maintains second place with 21-4 record having just three points less than leader Avenida. Loser Cadi La Seu dropped to the fifth position with 12 games lost. Argon Uni Girona will face Gipuzkoa UPV (#7) in San Sebastian in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Cadi La Seu will play at home against Socinsa Bembibre and hope to win that game.
