Second Stage Round 8: Contern - T71 91-98

Date: March 25, 2017
We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams in Luxembourg where fifth ranked T71 (13-11) defeated one of their biggest challengers Contern (13-12) 98-91 on Saturday. Contern trailed by 16 points after 3 quarters before a 27-18 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 91-98 at the end of the game. T71 dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Contern's 30. They outrebounded Contern 44-30 including 29 on the defensive glass. Contern was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Americans were the main players on the court. Worth to mention a great performance of power forward Eric Anderson (204-93, college: New Haven, agency: Duran International) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 28 points, 17 rebounds and 4 assists and power forward Cory Johnson (202-88, college: Valparaiso) who added 21 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. Guard Jesse Morgan (196-91, college: Temple) responded with 26 points and 9 rebounds and swingman Manny Atkins (198-91, college: Georgia St.) scored 26 points and 7 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. T71 moved-up to fourth place in League. Loser Contern dropped to the fifth position with 12 games lost. T71 will face Sparta (#6) in Bertrange in the next round. Contern will play at home against Etzella and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
