Regular Season Round 4: Kalamunda E.S. - Perry Lakes H. 69-103
Date: March 25, 2017
Everything went according to plan in Kalamunda where tenth ranked Hawks (1-1) outscored bottom-ranked Suns (0-3) 103-69 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Hawks. Suns was better in third quarter 25-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated down low during the game scoring 80 of its points in the paint compared to Suns' 30. They outrebounded Suns 55-28 including a 37-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Hawks looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American center Brian Carlwell (211-87, college: San Diego St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points, 14 rebounds and 5 blocks and the other American import point guard Robert Waters (185-93, college: Wayland Baptist) who added 28 points during the contest. Four Hawks players scored in double figures. At the losing side guard Brighton Pass (192-95) responded with 23 points and guard Nathan Drown (180-96) scored 11 points. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Hawks left bottom position moving up to ninth place in League. Loser Suns still closes the standings with three games lost. Hawks will face higher ranked Cougars (#5) in Hamilton Hill in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Suns will play at home against the league's second-placed Redbacks (#2) having rather not much hope for a victory.
