Regular Season Round 3: Guaymas - Hermosillo 80-89

There was a minor upset when Ostioneros de Guaymas (1-1) were defeated at home by Rayos de Hermosillo (1-1) 89-80 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 4 points at the halftime before their 50-37 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. The best player for the winners was American forward Tristan Spurlock (203-91, college: Cent.Florida) who had a double-double by scoring 17 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. His fellow American import forward Emmanuel Little (196-85, college: N.Dakota) chipped in a double-double by scoring 11 points and 13 rebounds. Little is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. At the other side the best for losing team was American-Bahrain swingman Rashad Woods (197-86, college: Kent St.) who recorded 21 points and 6 rebounds and American guard Paul Marigney (192-82, college: St.Mary's, CA) added 12 points and 9 rebounds respectively. Four Rayos de Hermosillo and five Ostioneros de Guaymas players scored in double figures. Ostioneros de Guaymas' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Rayos de Hermosillo will meet Halcones de Ciudad Obregon on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Ostioneros de Guaymas will play against Tijuana Zonkeys and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
