Regular Season Round 49: Shinshu BW - Nishinomiya S. 78-80

Sixth-ranked Shinshu BW (12-36) gave a tough game to second ranked Nishinomiya S. (33-14) in Nagano. The visitors from Hyogo managed to secure only two-point victory 80-78. However their fans expected much easier game. Nishinomiya S. dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Shinshu BW's 28. They outrebounded Shinshu BW 43-30 including a 17-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Nishinomiya S. brought some defensive toughness making 9 blocks. Shinshu BW was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Australian center Jordan Vandenberg (216-90, college: N.Carolina St.) nailed 17 points, 8 rebounds and 5 blocks (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winning side and swingman Naoki Tani (193-88) accounted for 16 points and 5 rebounds. Yasuhiko Yasuhiko (181-90) came up with 17 points and Yosuke Yosuke (184-85) added 17 points respectively for Shinshu BW in the defeat. Four Shinshu BW players scored in double figures. Nishinomiya S. have a solid series of three victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Toyotsu FE. Shinshu BW lost eighth consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with 36 games lost. Nishinomiya S. will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Shinshu BW will play again at home against the league's leader Nishinomiya S. (#1) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
