There was a change at the State League leadership position after last games. The most important game of round 4 took place in Wonthella between two undefeated teams of League where Buccaneers crushed Eagles (2-1) 92-69 on Saturday night. It was a key game for the top position in League. The game was mostly controlled by Buccaneers. Eagles managed to win fourth quarter 21-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 30-of-35 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game, while Eagles only scored twelve points from the stripe. Buccaneers forced 20 Eagles turnovers. 26 personal fouls committed by Eagles helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Maurice Barrow (196-92, college: Fairfield) who helped to win the game recording 29 points and 9 rebounds and the other American import forward Dwayne Benjamin (201-93, college: Oregon) who added 32 points and 4 steals during the contest. At the losing side New Zealand power forward Dennis Tawhiti (198-90) responded with 12 points and 9 rebounds and American center Kevin Davis (206-91, college: Cent.Washington) scored 11 points and 8 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Buccaneers (3-0) keep a position of League leader. Eagles at the other side dropped to the fourth place with one game lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Geelong S.. Eagles will play next round against Slammers trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Buccaneers will try to continue on its current victory against sixth ranked Tigers in Willetton.
