Second Stage Round 10: Koping - Djurgarden 108-77

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Djurgarden (12-2) on the court of third ranked Koping on Saturday night. Visitors were rolled over by Koping 108-77. The game was mostly controlled by Koping. Djurgarden managed to win fourth quarter 32-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Koping shot 60.6 percent from the field. Koping outrebounded Djurgarden 42-28 including a 37-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 15 long-distance shots on high 55.6 percentage. Koping looked well-organized offensively handing out 34 assists comparing to just 17 passes made by Djurgarden's players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Koping made 7 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Ronnie Boggs (192-91, college: Jacksonville St., agency: Interperformances) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points, 6 rebounds and 12 assists (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). The former international swingman Sean Smith (198-87, college: NC-Asheville) contributed with 19 points and 9 assists for the winners. Koping's coach Panagiotis Nikolaidis felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American power forward Joseph Taylor (203-85, college: Wyoming) replied with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds and naturalized Greek point guard Mannos Nakos (179-88) added 10 points and 10 assists in the effort for Djurgarden. Five Koping and four Djurgarden players scored in double figures. Koping maintains third position in Superettan with 7-6 record having ten points less than leader IK Eos. Newly promoted Djurgarden still keeps top place with two games lost. Koping are looking forward to face Wetterbygden (#6) in Huskvarna in the next round. Djurgarden will have a break next round.
