Everything went according to plan when first ranked Moncalieri (17-7) won against at home 4th placed San Miniato (14-11) 79-75 on Saturday. Point guard Daniele Merletto (175-93) fired 30 points and 4 assists for the winners. Swingman Leone Gioria (194-84) chipped in 18 points and 7 rebounds. Naturalized Swiss Olivier Giacomelli (198-95, agency: Players Group) produced 16 points and 8 rebounds and guard Francesco Stefanelli (190-95) added 16 points respectively for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Moncalieri maintains first place with 17-7 record. Loser San Miniato dropped to the fifth position with 11 games lost. Moncalieri will face Domodossola (#16) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. San Miniato will play against Varese Robur (#9) and hope to win that game.
