Regular Season Round 23: Roannais - Montbrison 50-67

No shocking result in a game when ninth ranked Montbrison (11-12) defeated on the road 11th ranked Roannais (6-17) 67-50 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 4 points at the halftime before their 40-19 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Montbrison dominated on the defensive end, holding Roannais to just 6 points in fourth quarter. It was a great evening for Cameroonian Amina Njonkou (185-88, college: Arizona) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 16 rebounds. The former international guard Emilie Duvivier (165-84) helped adding 22 points and 4 assists. Argentinian power forward Agostina Burani (184-91) responded with 10 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists and guard Maryne Reolid (173-87) scored 12 points. Four Roannais players scored in double figures. Montbrison moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Toulouse. Roannais lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the eleventh position with 17 games lost. They share it with Limoges and Dunkerque. Montbrison will meet at home higher ranked Reims (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Roannais will play against Toulouse (#8) and hope to secure a win.
