We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when second-best Sanen Neophoenix (25-21) lost to third ranked Hitachi Sunrockers (23-23) in Hamamatsu 70-77 on Saturday. Hitachi Sunrockers outrebounded Sanen Neophoenix 46-25 including a 28-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for Canadian center Robert Sacre (213-89, college: Gonzaga) who led his team to a victory with 22 points and 9 rebounds. International forward Ira Brown (193-82, college: Gonzaga) contributed with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Four Hitachi Sunrockers players scored in double figures. Hitachi Sunrockers' coach BT Toews used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to get some rest. American swingman Josh Childress (203-83, college: Stanford) replied with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 12 rebounds and Nigerian-Canadian Olu Ashaolu (200-88, college: Oregon, agency: Babcock Sports) added 15 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Sanen Neophoenix. Hitachi Sunrockers maintains third position with 23-23 record having fifteen points less than leader Tochigi Brex. Sanen Neophoenix lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the second place with 21 games lost. Hitachi Sunrockers will have a break next round. Sanen Neophoenix will play again at home against Hitachi Sunrockers and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
