Regular Season Round 29: Oviedo - Melilla 62-73

There was a minor upset when 5th ranked Oviedo CB (18-11) was defeated at home by seventh ranked Melilla Baloncesto (17-12) 73-62 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Melilla Baloncesto. Oviedo CB was better in fourth quarter 23-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Melilla Baloncesto made 23-of-29 free shots (79.3 percent) during the game, while Oviedo CB only scored five points from the stripe. Power forward Hector Manzano (207-80) stepped up and scored 14 points and 7 rebounds for the winners and guard Marcos Suka-Umu (192-85) chipped in 11 points and 4 assists. Senegalese forward Mouhamed Barro (205-95) responded with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 15 rebounds and power forward Miquel Salvo-Llambrich (205-94) scored 6 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Melilla Baloncesto moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Coruna. Loser Oviedo CB keeps the fifth position with 11 games lost. Melilla Baloncesto will face CB Prat (#14) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Oviedo CB will play against Leyma Basquet (#7) in Coruna and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
