Regular Season Round 25: Zamarat - Al-Qazeres 88-71

We should mention about the upset which took place in Zamora, where 9th ranked Al-Qazeres (10-15) lost to twelfth ranked Zamarat (8-17) in a road game 71-88 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Zamarat. Al-Qazeres was better in second period 18-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Al-Qazeres 43-25 including 30 on the defensive glass. Montenegrin center Ana Turcinovic-Pocek (190-93) fired a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Serbian guard Nina Bogicevic (181-89) chipped in 26 points (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). Five Zamarat players scored in double figures. American power forward Julie Forster (185-91, college: Albany) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds and the other American import guard Ameryst Alston (175-93, college: Ohio St.) added 22 points respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Zamarat maintains twelfth place with 8-17 record. Newly promoted Al-Qazeres keeps the ninth position with 15 games lost. Zamarat will face higher ranked Araski (#5) in Vitoria-Gasteiz in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
