Regular Season Round 22: San Martino - Lucca 70-65
Date: March 26, 2017
Fourth defeat of league's leader Lucca (18-4) against fourth ranked San Martino (16-6) 70-65 was the most important game of the last round. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 20-5. But Lucca won second period 17-11. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. San Martino dominated on the defensive end, holding Lucca to just 5 points in first quarter. It was a great shooting night for San Martino especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 60.0 percentage. Worth to mention a great performance of Lithuanian Egle Sulciute (190-85) who helped to win the game recording 16 points and 9 rebounds. The former international guard Angela Gianolla (171-80) contributed with 17 points and 7 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. Forward Kayla Pedersen (193-89, college: Stanford, agency: LBM Management) replied with 16 points and 8 rebounds and American-New Zealand guard Jillian Harmon (185-87, college: Stanford, agency: SPORTlab Agency) added 18 points in the effort for Lucca. Despite that victory San Martino went down to fifth position due to points difference. Lucca at the other side dropped to the second place with four games lost. They share the position with Familia Schio. They were replaced at the leadership position by Napoli.
