Regular Season Round 25: Gistel Oostende - Ieper 88-87

Important game to mention about took place in Oostende. Eleventh ranked Gistel Oostende (9-15) saved a 1-point victory at home edging 12th ranked Ieper (8-17) 88-87 on Sunday evening. Guard Sam Hemeleers (180-95) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 5 rebounds and 12 assists for the winners and center Justin Kohajda (203-96) chipped in 19 points and 7 rebounds (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!). Four Gistel Oostende players scored in double figures. At the losing side center Gilles Dierickx (213-92, college: Seattle Pacific) responded with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 15 rebounds and swingman Alexander Schepens (191-93) scored 28 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Gistel Oostende have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Melsele. Ieper lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the twelfth position with 17 games lost. Gistel Oostende will play against higher ranked Giants B (#8) in Antwerp in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Ieper will play at home against RPC Anderlecht (#14) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
